WIT15 Testimonies

Hikari Igawa
It has been a month since WIT15. I realize I have changed.  No, I was transformed!  Until recently, I was a bit ashamed of being a Christian since it makes me stand out from others around me.  I never thought I would be able to say that I am a Christian.  However, this past month not only was I able to tell my friends that I am a Christian, but I invited them to Christian events.  My friends ask me “why are you so happy?”  I don’t know how to express my feelings, but since I have decided to follow God, my life is filled with happiness and grace!  I am so thankful to have the family of God in my life!

Through WIT, I came to understand much more deeply about God’s glory, His existence in my life, and the greatness of His plan.  At the same time, I began to desire more to give thanks to God and to understand why God chose me out of so many Japanese people.  I have yet to have 100% confidence to give my life to full-time ministry, but I have made a decision to gladly give myself, resurrected together with Jesus, to God in order to show His glory.  I am so thankful to God for allowing me to attend WIT this year.

(WIT15 Testimonies continued)Hazuki Eguchi
There are many things I learned through WIT.  When I look back on it, one thing that is a common thread throughout is Who Jesus was and how He was as a leader to many who followed Him.  It is important to learn from Jesus’s life as a leader.  For example, in His busy life, Jesus knew exactly what His priorities were.  He spent time with God the Father and held prayer time in the highest importance.
Even Jesus, Who is the perfect person and can do anything, invited His disciples to build up ministries together and walk in unity as a community.  He was despised and mocked, but He always forgave in love.  His life even ended in the worst unfair death.
Till now, as a leader I felt inadequate, too busy and faced struggles in relationships.  However, when I returned to the Gospel, I realized that my focus was on me.  That is why I struggled because I wasn’t able to communicate in love.  I was the cause of these problems.  My focus should have been on Jesus.  I learned how important it is to learn from Jesus’s life of love.
In order to build a better community and have a good influence on people around me, I want to be more like Jesus.  He is the best communicator filled with love and I want to be a leader who shows God’s glory.

Through WIT, I feel that I am released from all the things I was clinging onto, as well as the things that were forming my identity (for me, it was baseball and people’s eyes).  Now I have taken the first step to trust God completely and obey Him as He leads me.  God taught me the true meaning of a life that remains in His love.
Now I am back to my church, and I want to wholeheartedly serve God through the ministries He has given to me.  I spent time with many friends in Christ, and I know that the future of Japan is bright!  I feel that revival has already begun and is coming!  I want to be a part of it no matter what type of career I will have.  Currently, I have a desire to go to Talbot Seminary to study towards earning an M.Div.  It will be financially challenging, but if it is God’s will all the needs will be met.  I am praying to God as I trust Him.
